Wakinyan (Thunder Being)

Wakinyan (Thunder Being) came to the WMS on April 29, 2002.  He was 14 days old.  Wakinyan was born April 15, 2002.   He weighed 2 pounds and came with his sister Shanta Wanagi.  Tonya had to bottle-feed the cubs every few hours to keep them alive. Wakinyan was rescued from a wolf breeder.  He is very shy at first, but when he gets to know you, he will be climbing all over you.  He loves to shake with his paws and will alternate back and forth.  He is very rambunctious especially during feeding time. Wakinyan lives with Shanta Wanagi and Wana Chikal who were rescued from the same breeder.  When it’s feeding time, Tonya howls and they all come running. Wakinyan is a joy to have here at WMS and loves to eat watermelon, peaches and knuckle bones.  Wakinyan is now two years old and weighs 150 lbs.  He is going to be one of our largest wolves when he is full grown.  He was very black when he was younger and his coat continues to lighten.  He is very special to all the staff at WMS.
