Apache Moon Memorial Visit

When:   October 15, 2006 at 1pm

Where:  Wolf Mountain Sanctuary

We will be having a prayer and planting of a flowering tree this day.  The flowering tree will be planted near the area that Apache used to lie in the grass.  This tree will grow and flourish and be a visual reminder to him and his life.

We will also have flute music playing.

Pot Luck - so please bring a dish and call Tonya with what you are bringing 760-248-7818.

There will still be the normal visit donation of $20 per person.  (sorry but we cannot afford to close the sanctuary for this event so it will be in addition to a regular wolf visit).

We are working on a collage of Apache's photos with a poem written by Tonya and they will be available as well as wolf bottle pendants.

We would love for all friends of the wolves to come and share this day with us to honor our dear friend....

Thanks and please call 760-248-7818 if you plan on attending.

WMS regretfully has to notify all lovers of the wolves that Apache Moon has joined the Sky People at 5pm on September 19, 2006.

He was with his wolf and hairless pack and went painlessly.  Apache is now young and free of his old tired body.  He is greet by Niosha, Sweet Cheyenne, Gabrielle, Melatia and all the other friends that crossed the Rainbow Bridge before him.  He is FREE.

Tonya's loving last words to Apache were:

"Thank you Apache for being my friend, for loving me and our pack.  Run free with the Sky People and all the other wolves and animals waiting for you at the edge of the bridge.  I love you my friend and you will always be with me in my heart and soul."

Apache will be cremated and kept in a memorial container so he can always be close to his hairless family at WMS.

Please say a prayer for our dear friend and remember him always.

RUN FREE AND WILD BEAUTIFUL APACHE MOON.... We are howling to you up in the sky.....

---------------

Apache Moon was a McKenzie Valley Timber Wolf. He came to us at the age of 7 weeks in very bad condition.

Apache has now passed on and joined the sky people.  He was 20 years old, one of the oldest wolves known.  He was strong in stature, proud in stance, and weighed 110 lbs.  He was calm, well centered, and easy going.  Apache appeared in such movies as "Wolf Ridge" and "Deadly Cold".  His trustworthiness and love for children earned him a place in our Educational Programs.  He was the only wolf we allowed children to visit with because of his gentle nature.

Apache Moon is the honorary WMS pack "Father" and will always hold this title.  He raised most of the wolves; Dakota, Segoni, Durango, Sedona, Apache, Wakinyan, Shanta Wanagi, Wana Chikal , Niwah and now Istas.  We have let the new pups spend time with Apache but he made it clear that he was too old to teach them.

Tonya gave Apache Moon, special herbs and medications to keep him from hurting but he was tired and wanted to be free and run with the Sky People so he has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. We treasure every day that we had with Apache and we were all lucky to have been part of his pack and to have him enhance our lives.
